IHRA Summit Pro-Am Series This Coming Weekend at Rockingham Dragway

IHRA SUMMIT PRO-AM TOUR MOVES THIS WEEK TO ROCKINGHAM

The battle for Division 9 supremacy in the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour moves this week (April 27-29) to Steve Earwood’s Rockingham Dragway where Harrisburg’s Steve Furr resumes his bid for a Top Dragster title after an opening race stumble.

Furr, the 2006 Super Rod winner at the IHRA World Finals at the Rock and last year’s Super Rod champion at the points meet, was guilty of a
rare foul start at Piedmont Dragway that gave Kyle Cultrera of Eliot, Maine, a final round victory in the featured category.

Furr tries to redeem himself this week in a race that also will crown champions in Top Sportsman, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod, Hot Rod and three Junior Dragster categories – Master, Advanced and Beginner.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. on Friday with technical inspection until 9 p.m. The track’s weekly test-and-tune session will be open to all from 2-8 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes two qualifying rounds, IHRA national record runs and a Gamblers’ bracket race for a $2,000 top prize. Eliminations will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Spectator admission is $20 daily with children under 12 free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Among the Rockingham defending champions are Mike White of Arden, Terry Taylor of Lumberton, Steve Corker of Clayton, Matthew Robinson of Garner and Hayden Lambert of Albemarle, all of whom used Rockingham as a springboard for eventual Division 9 championships.
